At Big Shot Lodge, we're passionate about the upland bird hunting and we want to share that passion with friends. Our journey began when the former Chairman of Pheasants Forever built world class lodging and dedicated habitat as a personal retreat for his family, friends, executives and dignitaries. Every season, we share this special place with a few that are looking for a once in a lifetime experience.
Our mission at Big Shot Lodge is simple: to offer our guests the opportunity people experience the beauty of the outdoors, the pursuit of wild game within a world class ecosystem, and building lifelong friendships that emerge from time in the field.
Private Dedicated Bird Habitat
We offer exclusive access to three private hunting properties totaling ~800 acres of meticulously managed exclusively private bird habitat:
- Big Shot Lodge – 400 acres surrounding the Lodge
- Snake Creek – 200 acres just south of Cresbard, SD
- Gooder Creek – 160 acres just south of Faulkton, SD
Every acre is actively managed and planted specifically for upland bird habitat. In addition to carefully designed food plots, tree lines and cover, each property features rolling hills and natural water sources — ponds, creeks, or rivers — that further enhance the habitat and create ideal conditions for birds.
This is private land reserved exclusively for our guests.

We strive for the most private hunting experiences available. We never mix parties. Every hunt is created uniquely for the guests staying with us, ensuring a personalized, uncrowded experience that simply cannot be found at larger commercial operations.
World-Class Dogs
Our dedicated guides hunt exclusively with German Shorthair Pointers that have been bred and trained at Big Shot Kennels, right here at the lodge. Developed from an early age on the same habitat our guests hunt, these dogs are the best in the business — intelligent, driven, and perfectly suited for South Dakota’s challenging upland conditions.
Premium Accomodations
The lodge itself is a true premium facility designed for comfort and privacy. Guests enjoy private bedrooms, each thoughtfully appointed with high-quality bedding and premium mattresses for restorative rest after a full day in the field. Every detail of the lodge is built to the same elevated standard as the hunting experience itself.
